With water temperatures about 28 degrees Celsius, the islands have become popular for beginners and experienced divers. Some of the dive sites are shore dives; others have to be reached by boats. There about 15 dive sites around the three islands, with a variety of topography (slopes, walls, ridges and canyons) and an enormous amount of marine live. There are over 3500 marine species living in the reefs and seas of Indonesia. In Comparison to the Red Sea (600 species), and Great Barrier Reef (1500 species), 25% of all reefs in the world are in Indonesia.
